Information for Parents/Families and Providers on Intervention Tips: Reading, Language, Play, Music, Drama

The websites listed have tip sheets for parents on a variety of topics including reading tips, developing language, playing with your child, activities, providing emotional support, getting your child ready for school, using drama and music and books for children in many languages.  Information on tip sheets is developed according to the research and the cultural norms of the countries in which the information was prepared.  If families/parents find specific information different from, inappropriate or offensive in their culture, families/parents should raise these issues with their providers.

  • Research in a specific country may not directly apply to another culture, for example, positive reinforcement of children’s behavior.  In some cultures, families/parents are very effusive and direct, while in other cultures, the feedback may be less demonstrative and subtle, but have the same effect.
