Information for Providers of Families/Parents who speak Portuguese

WHERE IS PORTUGUESE SPOKEN:

https://louisville.edu/anthropology/portuguesestudies/the-portuguese-language

Portuguese is the official language of several independent countries and regions: Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, East Timor, Guinea Bissau, Macau, Mozambique, Portugal, & São Tomé and Príncipe. Portuguese, ranked fifth among world languages in number of native speakers, it also is widely spoken or studied as a second language in many other countries. With more than 200 million native speakers, Portuguese is one of the few languages spoken in such widely-distributed parts of the world. Because Brazil, with 184 million inhabitants, constitutes about 51% of South America’s population, Portuguese is the most widely spoken language in South America.
