Sam Brumbach joined JFK partners in August 2017. She is currently in the third year of a doctorate of Audiology program through the University of Colorado, Boulder. As a LEND part-time fellow Sam worked with other LEND fellows to develop materials to assist audiologist in conducting hearing evaluations on children with disabilities, particularly children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The developed materials consisted of visual activity schedules as well as video models and were disseminated to audiologist at the EHDI 2018 conference. As part of the LEND program this Spring, Sam also prepared and conducted an educational session on Auditory Processing Disorder for the teachers and staff at Temple Grandin School, a school for children with ASD. This year Sam will be continuing as a LEND fellow and is interested in expanding the repertoire of materials available to audiologist to test children with disabilities. The expansion will likely consist of video models and schedules for additional test and validation measures and include children of different race, ethnicity and children with disabilities as the video and schedule models. This year, through LEND, Sam is interested in developing relationships with and gaining valuable perspective from the other students, clinicians, families and professionals at JFK partners.
